This position is responsible for managing a construction crew, equipment and materials on a large and/or complex project in accordance with construction designs, plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; driving production, ensuring quality, and upholding customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying improvements.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing Charah safety standards and procedures; complying with, and enforcing, OSHA, MSHA and DOT codes and regulations.
  • Understand construction drawings, specifications, permits and layouts.
  • Understands and adheres to project budget specifications, project schedules and production demands.
  • Accomplishes construction human resource objectives by selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning; executing; monitoring/controlling, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Assists with managing sub-contractors; evaluating and monitoring their performance.
  • Ability to operate Heavy Equipment is imperative in training and evaluating performance.
  • Ability to act independently and to originate new procedures and new approaches to problems.
  • Ability to maintain initiative to maintain the flow of work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a Construction Foreman or Superintendent role required.
  • Knowledge of Trimble GPS required.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Previous work-related skill, knowledge, and/or experience are required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Project Management Certification or equivalent may be required based on the scope of the project managed.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment & Conditions

  • This position requires a flexible work schedule: nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend and walk/stand/sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to hear and see naturally or with correction
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be subject to loud noises
  • Be subject to atmospheric conditions - one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
  • This position requires working in the internal and external environment
