Overview

This position will assist with the planning, development, and management of large and/or complex construction projects by ensuring that construction designs are safely and efficiently implemented as well as being responsible for coordinating/developing engineered solutions to construction-related challenges.  This position will also help manage project budgets, design plan sets, general permit compliance, all additional site reporting requirements, and oversee engineering, quality, and technical support services.

  • Coordinating implementation of project objectives while ensuring all specifications, design requirements, and client requirements are adhered to in order to successfully complete work scopes.
  • Assisting the Project Manager with subcontractor oversight/organization to ensure the project schedule is maintained.
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party technical services and manage documentation tracking for project quality records.
  • Complete regular construction audits to ensure adherence to design requirements and proper construction materials and techniques utilized as required by project specifications.
  • Managing effective communications between technical, construction and project controls groups as well as client and their agents as directed by the VP-EHS and/or the Project Manager.
  • Studying project design drawings, specifications, and related project documents to ensure proper work execution, identify design discrepancies and solutions.
  • Assisting in the development of daily project reports, production tracking as well as assisting in preparing weekly and monthly project update reports for Senior Management and clients.
  • Oversee and produce technical drawings, field layouts, field work progress, and commodity tracking for QA/QC purposes.
  • Oversee management of RFIs, submittals, and professionally written and graphical work execution plans; train staff on project plans, design, regulatory, permit, and project specification requirements to ensure proper field execution.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Field Engineer, and Project Administrative Assistant to convey project status, work execution challenges and general project risks.
  • Perform Stormwater, Erosion Control, and SPCC Inspections at the site and maintain records documenting the findings per project and corporate requirements.
  • Manage and perform QA/QC testing of CCR samples to ensure contract compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, environmental, and quality departments to ensure proper adherence to regulatory, permitting, design, and company environmental and engineering practice requirements.
  • Collaborate with owner/client’s agents responsible for project designs where applicable, and/or coordinate design efforts, suggested design revisions, or alternate approaches with Engineer of Record (EOR) to facilitate efficient and quality designs.
  • Preserving confidentiality, maintaining integrity, and responsibility for ensuring work is completed per design and client requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent is required. EIT and ability to obtain PE registration preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering and construction field experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read construction design drawings and specifications is required.
  • Ability to perform field quantity takeoffs, drawing takeoffs, and utilize advanced/applied mathematics to solve project planning and constructability issues is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bluebeam, and/or Adobe and AutoCAD are required.
  • Experience with Trimble site positioning systems is preferred, although the ability to utilize conventional and GPS site surveying equipment is desired.
  • Specialized construction management training and project management training are preferred (CAP-M, Six Sigma Green Belt, etc.)

  • Capable to oversee/lead staff and subcontractors to perform work scopes per project and design requirements.
  • Sustain interpersonal relationships which encourage openness, candor, and trust, both internally and outside of Charah
  • Ability to quickly analyze, interpret, and compare detailed information.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to develop professional project deliverables.
  • Ability to lead discussions and meetings to resolve project design and constructability issues.
  • Ability to evaluate options and provide recommendations to aid Project Manager in project decisions to ensure financial, environmental, engineering risks have been properly assessed.

 

Working Environment:

  • This position requires a flexible work schedule: nights, weekends, and holidays (early morning and potentially late evening work).
  • This position requires working in an internal (office trailer) and external (job site) environment.
  • If you are required to go out onto the job site, you could be subject to the following atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system/skin: fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Must be able to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend and walk/stand/sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and utilize basic hand tools for gathering and testing samples of construction materials.
  • Be subject to loud noises.
